Ann Wåhlström

Ann Wåhlström, born in 1957, is one of Sweden's foremost glass artists and designers. With an Australian father and an American husband, she has also spent long periods in Australia and the United States. She was early in life influenced by the free approach to glass design that she encountered at Pilchuck Glass School, USA. She is drawn to the spontaneity in the process, and she gets great inspiration from organic forms in maritime environments such as the Great Barrier Reef and the beaches at Gotland in the Baltic Sea. Her expression ranges from classically frugal to colorful poppy, and her glass objects often have a strong visual presence. Ann Wåhlström's glass art is appreciated all over the world, and she is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the National Museum in Stockholm.
