Jeanette Karsten

Jeanette Karsten comes from a Norwegian family of architects and artists where the women also trained in artistic professions – not always a matter of course when the zeitgeist was different. She was educated in Sweden, Norway, and Wales, and as an architect she shares the broad approach to her work that, for example, Alvar Aalto gave evidence of. She has designed both furniture, utility items and entire interiors. For Jeanette Karsten, architecture, art, and design work together with an obviousness that is also expressed in her glass work. Her various glass objects reflect a dream world filled with inspiration from nature, and the Art Nouveau vases for Reijmyre are excellent examples of her innovative art.
